sPower and Mortenson Achieved Commercial Operation of Pleinmont Solar 1 in Virginia

Many clients have said Virginia is the hardest place to do solar in the U.S., so special kudos to sPower and Mortenson for achieving commercial operation of Pleinmont Solar 1, the first phase of a four project development for which Nextracker Inc. is providing 416 MW of smart solar trackers.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and NX’s independent row design with terrain-following features in north-south highlight address the highly undulating site. These features radically reduce grading costs, speed construction schedules, and preserve valuable topsoil for erosion control and minimal impact on native vegetation and habitat.

Energy yield will be enhanced by using TrueCapture, Nextracker’s patented adaptive tracking control system, delivering significant gains for the undulating site, and high diffuse fraction weather of the east coast.

This project energy is contractually supplied to Microsoft in another example of exemplary corporate energy leadership driving solar markets. In totality a lot to be grateful for! Happy Thanksgiving!
